Red Dot Sights
4/10/2012 6:57:41 PM By starsky: Hello everyone, I’m pretty much done with my first AR15 build and I have a few questions about my sight setup. Currently I have a rifle length free float rail, with Magpul front and rear gen 2 sights. The front is as far up as I can lock it, and the rear is as far back as I can lock it. I recently picked up a Primary Arms M4 style Red Dot. My understanding is with the built in mount of the m4 red dot, I can use it in a 1/3 co-witness setup with my mbus sights. I plan on purchasing a PA magnifier soon as well. When used with a magnifier, does that mean when I look through the magnified sight, the dot will be on the lower 1/3 of the sight picture? Or will it appear to be in the center, even though I have it co-witnessed at 1/3? Thanks Cowitness is just where the iron sights line up in the Red Dot Sight window. Once the magnifier is in place it goes away becasue you can’t see the irons anymore. As the previous post says you will use the adjustments on the magnifier to center the dot. I recongized it pretty quick as a fake and contacted the seller to let him know, and emailed him a link to this thread. To the guys credit he posted a warning and even a link to this thread. To get the old ones off, unless you want to keep them as a backup, just yank them off with a pair of needlenose pliers. To put the McFarland on, start with the end and push the rest of the Scope Ring over the edge and into the groove. glorifiedG

The M4 EBR stock is based on the Navy SEAL EBR stock.

The SpecOps works off two springs and the main one can jump the pin in the receiver mount. There are no user repair parts so the stock is then FUBAR and good luck getting one from Black Hawk. Knoxx made a good product, damn shame who they sold it to. The transition of the recoil to the rear and back is smoother with the Mesa Tactical w/Endine Buffer. The Mesa Tactical will last the life of the weapon. I can not say that for the SpecOps.

Wouldn’t the galling occur due to over tightening of the mount? What are your thoughts on the new KAC micro mount, other than the sell your first born price? My suggestion is to select the mount that best fits your needs. So if you are happy with your LT mounts, DO NOT SWITCH. I bought a KAC T1 mount for the adaptability on different weapons, intending it to be the last mount I ever buy for that T1. The increased cost was, to my mind, offset by the decreased (eliminated) future cost for additional mounts if I move it to an AK, shotgun, etc. If I knew this T1 was going to live on an AR indefinitely, I’d buy the LaRue Tactical mount.
